Church Outreach

First Community of Port Orford supports several outreach projects:

Charles and Julie Champlin started serving with CrossWorld in 1997. The primary focus of their work is with the Wai Wai Village of Mapuera in Brazil. They built their home in the Wai Wai village of Jatapuzinho where Charles began a Biblical leadership training program for the Wai Wai people as well as working on Wai Wai Bible materials. Their work also includes the completion of an electronic version of the Wai Wai Bible for pc and android devices. They are currently on home assignment (April-November 2017).

Gary and Barbara Bauman started serving with SIM (Serving in Mission) in 1988. The primary focus of their work is serving as Resource Specialists with SIM in Japan. Gary serves as Editor of Japan Harvest, the journal of the Japan Evangelical Missionary Association. Among just a few of their other activities, Gary and Barbara serve together in marriage ministry, while Gary develops print and digital ministry resources, and Barbara leads and trains mothers to lead parenting classes.

Camp Fircroft’s sole purpose is to refresh and strengthen Christians in the air of Langlois, Oregon. We have all been struck by the majesty of creation so visible from the mountain top. Our goal is to challenge students to a faith In Christ that affects their obedience, consistency, actions, and attitudes, addressing what they believe and why, in an atmosphere of excitement and growth.  Over the years, First Community has supported Camp Fircroft financially and with hands-on volunteers that participate in camp workdays and/or serving at a camp in some capacity.  You can learn more about Camp Fircroft by visiting their website at campfircroft.com
